Malte Ubl – Programming; Explained.

For Malte Ubl, programming is a hobby – probably the coolest in the world, but still a hobby – for which you can even get paid. In his talk at NEXT Berlin 2012 he gave the audience a better understanding of why he considers programming that way and how you can get started yourself.

In Ubl’s opinion, programming combines man’s ancient desire to build things and the possibility to try again and again, without any cost, in order to continuously get better. In this context, Ubl used the comparison of programming being like cooking bacon – it may not taste great on your first attempt, but it doesn’t hurt to try again, until it tastes really well.

What we learn from him is that programming is not rocket science. His talk has the potential to educate people, to disprove stereotypes and to encourage others to start programming themselves.
