Startup pitches are becoming a tradition at NEXT Berlin. In 2011 the winner was Philipp Eibach with his startup wahwahFM. The app uses location-based data to turn your smartphone into a mobile radio station. Nearby cells can tune into it and hear the songs you’re listening to.

On the NEXT12 startup stage Philipp Eibach talked about his experiences from last year’s pitch and explained what happened afterwards: MTV New York called the day after and covered his story. The startup got the broad media attention Eibach had never dreamed of. Still, he won’t be moving to Silicon Valley but will remain in the “world’s music capital Berlin”, as he calls it.
