Markus Witte, Babbel

Markus Witte is Managing Director and co-founder of Lesson Nine, the company behind the language learning website Babbel.com. Since their launch in January 2008, Babbel now boasts more than 250,000 users from over 200 different countries. Their first premium product for the German market was released in April 2009.

Witte began his career teaching Cultural Studies at Humboldt-University in Berlin. He also worked at New York University and at Berlin's University of Applied Sciences. "New" and "old" media have always been the focus of his work. For six years, he was responsible for all online activities at Native Instruments, a major music software company in Berlin.
