The Speakers of 2010

Kasper Skårhøj, TYPO3

KSarhoj_160.jpgKasper Skårhøj is the Danish founder and creator of TYPO3. He started the well-known open source project back in the 90's when the Internet was accelerating in public popularity. But contrary to many other ventures that ended their lives in the dot-com crash around 2001, he early on decided to use an open source model that would allow the product to develop with an insisting priority to high quality and professional features. As TYPO3 earned subsequent success Skårhøj was working as a consultant for large industrial corporations like Dassault Systemes in Paris to implement web solutions and gather further feedback to the system from the real world.

The TYPO3 Association was also founded by Kasper Skårhøj in collaboration with other leading community members as a means to put a foundation under TYPO3 that would secure it a solid future beyond the life time of it's founder.

Today, Skårhøj is computer-guru emeritus. Three years back he decided that TYPO3 was ready to be handed over to the next generation that will take it to the next level where he couldn't go himself. Instead he decided to do something completely different from IT and began to study Civil Engineering at the Danish Technical University. Today he is still studying hardcore math and physics but also is working as an e-learning consultant, using his experiences with IT, multimedia and leadership to inspire the scientific personel how to enhance their teaching with technology and multimedia.
