Coming Soon: Speakers from the Public Voting

By Martin Recke |

Yesterday, we published the first bunch of confirmed speakers for this year’s edition of NEXT. It’s quite a nice line-up already, and there’s even more to come.

Some people are concerned about the apparent lack of speakers from the public voting process that they would expect to appear on that list. In fact, none of the top ten voted-for proposals have been confirmed yet.

Whether this will change or not is not yet entirely clear at the moment. The programme curators are still busy reviewing each and every proposal, not just the few from the top. Our goal is to get the best speakers on stage, not just the ones with the most votes.

The voting is an important part of the programme development process. As we’ve stated before, we also take into account what the NEXT Advisory Board has to say. The final decision is then made by our Programme Committee, with Monique van Dusseldorp as Programme Director International and six curators for vertical topics like Technology, Mobile, Branding, Media, Social, or Commerce.

In fact, the first bunch of speakers that were proposed in the public voting process have already received notice from us. They will be listed as confirmed speakers as soon as, well, they confirm their appearance.
