FOCUS Online joins NEXT11 as Media Partner

We are delighted to introduce another Media Partner for NEXT11: Welcome FOCUS Online, one of Germany’s most popular online news platforms!
In the following days, FOCUS Online’s digital section will host „NEXT Word!“, a special editorial series featuring essays by prominent, keen thinkers attending the NEXT Conference. Matthias Schrader (CEO of SinnerSchrader), David Rowan (Wired UK), author and Internet critic Andrew Keen and more will present their thoughts on the conference topic, “Data Love“. The first essay, in which NEXT11 chairman Rolf Schmidt-Holtz describes positive effects of the digitalisation on our lives, is already online (in German).

We will publish most of the essays in English right here on this blog. Stay tuned and join the discussion!

Say “Hi!” and welcome our first round of confirmed speakers at NEXT11! We’re very happy that Tim Ferriss, Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, Sarah Lacy, Werner Vogels, Peter Vesterbacka, and more are coming to Berlin.

Over 80 speakers already confirmed their participation, among them high-profile minds such as Andrew Keen, Tim Ferriss and TechCrunch editor and blogger Sarah Lacy, who travelled to visit the most fascinating start-ups worldwide. With Rolf Schmidt-Holtz participants can expect a thought leader of the media industry on stage: The journalist and manager of Sony Music Entertainment has been successfully engaged in the online as well as print and TV business for the past couple of decades. Before, he was publisher and chief editor at “Stern” and chief creative officer at Bertelsmann. Thereby the NEXT conference underlines its claim as one of the most important conferences within the digital industry in Germany.

The American entrepreneur and author Tim Ferriss published international bestsellers with the book titles “The 4-Hour-Workweek“ and “The 4-Hour Body“. Furthermore, Peter Vesterbacka of Rovio Mobile, the creators of the popular mobile app Angry Birds, will be presenting at NEXT11.

Werner Vogels, Chief Technology Officer at Amazon, generated buzz with his lastest work in the cloud computing field. In 2010 he was chosen as “Cloud’s Most Influential Executive” by the readers of ReadWriteWeb. David Rowan, editor in chief of the British edition of the Wired magazine, belongs to one of the most prominent minds of the online industry, too. Previously to his engagement at the prizewinning future technology magazine he wrote for the Sunday Times Magazine and The Guardian.

The social dimensions of “Data Love” will be illustrated by Matt Gierhart. He is passionate on finding digital communication solutions for several years. Since 2010 he manages the social activities at OgilvyAction, London. More social insights will be provided by Bastian Unterberg, co-founder and CEO of the Berlin-based start-up jovoto as well as by David Noël of the music platform SoundCloud.

Andrew Keen on Digital Vertigo: Inequality, Anxiety & Loneliness in the Social Media Age

We need a master. This is Andrew Keen‘s request. He not only challenged the audience but also the previous speakers addressing social media themes. It’s not about the cult of individuals, not about social ubiquity. It’s about a profound shift in nature, it’s the way we organize. According to Andrew, the competitive world of social media is the most unsocial world, reflected by a radicalized individualism. And that’s why we need someone to put the whole thing together.
