NEXT Service Design 2013 – a great day with great speakers
The NEXT Service Design 2013 is over and we are still remembering all the great moments of September 16. Because of that we would like to take the chance and say THANK YOU to all our great speakers, participants, partners and volunteers of the conference! We were overwhelmed by your enthusiasm and the great feedback we received! 270 participants were responsible for the great atmosphere at the charming location Radialsystem V in Berlin.
We want to thank all of you who joined us. We had exciting talks from great speakers, creative and communicative participants and experimental and well-visited workshops by Storythinkers and Edenspiekermann. And we simply could not have done NEXT Service Design without the support of our host SinnerSchrader and amazing partners like simyo, Edenspiekermann and Unbelievable Machine. We hope you all enjoyed the conference as much as we did!
Designers, marketing strategists, business as well as front-end developers and academic experts from Europe and the US discussed the best digital services. This year great speakers like brand strategist Dean Crutchfield, Alexander Baumgardt, Cathrine Movold (Making Waves) and Brian Gillespie and Lee Moreau of Continuum shared insights and told the stories behind their successful projects.
To relive the day you get an overview of the whole programme here.
This year NEXT Service Design took place on September 16 at Radialsystem V in Berlin.
Programme – What was it about?
We had fantastic speakers at NEXT Service Design 2013. International service design pioneers from both brands and agencies presented the best digital cases on stage and explained how they approached the projects.
We would like to thank them. First and foremost Dean Crutchfield for his charismatic and informative keynote on service innovation. Following him, we had interesting insights into the fields of Financial, Mobility & Travel and Entertainment Services: Lee Moreau and Brian Gillespie shared their experiences with designing the „Bank of the Future“.
Julia Werner and Stephan Augustin showed us what the future of mobility could look like with their case ‘BMW i Wallbox’; Stefan Moritz presented the inspiring making of the Spotify Windows Phone app. In the final session Alexander Baumgardt explained a continuing Service Design project for General Electric which he also presents to students in California.
The programme of NEXT Service Design 2013 was divided in three main sessions surrounded by the first session with the Keynote of Dean Crutchfield and the final session for New Ideas. The three other sessions were about Financial Services,Travel & Mobility Services and Entertainment Services.

The cultural centre Radialsystem V is a former pumping station infused with industrial charm and a complementary modern glass structure. It is situated right by the river Spree in the urban centre of Berlin between Friedrichshain, Mitte and Kreuzberg. Opened in 2006 as a space for arts and new ideas, the Radialsystem V is the ideal venue for the NEXT Service Design 2013.
