Agile, Lean or Still Old-Fashioned? How Traditional Organizations Pave the Way for Coexistence
Especially in traditional companies, digitalization is a trend towards the co-existence of new and traditional business units. On the one hand, we are witnessing the development of new departments, some of which are opening up new markets in completely new areas of business. Teams that work agile and lean, free of hierarchies, mostly pursuing completely detached KPIs, as the rest of the company. On the other hand, there are departments that have kept the company alive for decades. Which generate 90% of the company’s sales and profits, doing things the way they were done. The question that most companies ask themselves is how to connect traditional departments of the organization with new, digital and pioneering business units. How can we work together without stopping innovation? How can we guarantee that the origin and heart of a company, which provides the necessary liquidity, will not fall by the wayside? Are the “Old Systems and Boys” really the perpetrators which hold back innovation, or do we fail in combining things more cunningly?
Horst Ellermann (publisher of CIO Magazine) will discuss the practical insights with Otto Group CIO, Michael Müller-Wünsch, ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions CIO, Christian Pagel and Messe Frankfurt CIO, Jürgen Stahl.
