AI – the New Creative? Creation and Innovation in the Physical and Digital World – Who is in the Driver Seat – Men or Machines?
Creative tasks and achievements are usually related to human beings. We use data and tools from the digital room to create both new things in the physical world as well in the digital world.
In any case, human beings drive creation and give guidance to technical systems. But more and more machines powered by AI and smart data tap into the field of creativity and innovation. The game-changing part is that AI is becoming increasingly autonomous and proactive. AI learns to learn and lead to human decisions without being pre-programmed. AI is getting creative by being completely unsupervised.
The interesting question that raises up is how far AI can or should go in the creative process. Can AI be taught how to create without supervision or direction? Will the digital algorithmic world dominate the physical world when it comes to innovation? Also the bigger question remains: Should this be the goal of AI even if it is technically feasible?
Thinking one step ahead when real life takes more and more place in VR/AR/MR environments the physical and digital world will converge and the term ‘parallel worlds’ will even become obsolete.
The talk will discuss these considerations by showing examples and scenarios: AI-created movies, trailers, marketing stories, online ads, paintings, commercials and magazines. Live demos will illustrate these new technological approaches.
