To most people, the social web is a place to share content and communicate with friends. But to David Bausola of Philter Phactory, it’s a virtual world complete with the resources needed to produce an infomorphic intelligence.

Bausola has co-created Weavrs, a platform that manufactures artificial beings that exist within this social part of the internet. With commercial roots in licencing the platform to ethnography researchers, Bausola has taken the opportunity to explore what artist Rob Myers calls "Jaron Lanier's worst nightmare".

Weavrs have been (ab)used to produce corporate elves, gonzo parodies, research demographics, dating lures and political figure heads.
