Heike Emdal is a consultant at the Family Office and an employee in corporate health management (BGM) at the Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH). After more than ten years as a manager in the business world, she retrained as a systemic coach specialising in stress management and burnout prevention in the ‘middle of her life’ following a burnout. She has been working at the TUHH since 2022, where she is involved in the areas of ‘work-life balance’ as well as human resources development and corporate health management.

Through a personal experience – her husband drew her attention to the topic of menopause – she began to question her own diagnosis of ‘burnout’ and now suspects that menopause played a significant role in her symptoms. Since then, she has been passionately committed to breaking the taboo surrounding menopause in the workplace, providing comprehensive information to those affected and promoting non-discriminatory behaviour.

Heike Emdal is one of the three initiators of the inter-university action week ‘Wechseljahre@work’ (Menopause@work), which informs members of the University of Hamburg (UHH), the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW) and the TUHH about various aspects of the topic.
