Philipp Wollheim, born in 1992, took his first violin lessons at the age of 4. From 2004 to 2010 he was a young student at the Julius-Stern-Institute, studying with Prof. Tomasz Tomaszewski. In 2010 he started his studies as a violin student at the UdK Berlin with Prof. Nora Chastain. He regularly participates in master classes around the world. He is a prizewinner of several competitions including the National German Youth Competition (Jugend Musiziert), the International Paul Hindemith Competition and the Tonali Grand Prix. In 2009 he got the “Edouard-Söring-Preis” of the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben“, which also provides his violin to him. Concert tours as a soloist or with his piano trio (Cohen-Wollheim-Trio) brought him to several countries including Israel, Russia, Switzerland and Turkey. In summer 2012 he is going to play in the ”International Students Festival” in Kyoto, Japan. As a soloist he already played with renowned orchestras like the DSO and Ensemble Resonanz.
