Dr. Sebastian Wagner is co-founder and CEO of Geospin GmbH, a startup using a B2B software-as-a-service solution for the analysis of geodata using machine learning methods and focusing on geospatial deep learning. Additionally, his research work has been published in relevant journals and he gave talks at renowned international conferences or at public events such as TEDx in Freiburg.
Before Sebastian founded Geospin with four friends as a spin-off of the University of Freiburg in March 2016, he worked at Berkeley Lab in California as a software developer. In 2016, he completed his Ph.D. at the Chair of Information Systems Research at the University of Freiburg. For his outstanding academic and applied work in the field of Big Data, he received multiple international research awards, e.g. the Best Paper Award in 2015.

In June this year, Geospin received a seven-figure funding, while Sebastian and his co-founders had already developed the company into a successful startup with a double-digit number of employees across two sites in Germany.
