Franke is Wikipedia editor since January 2004, Wikipedia Admin since February 2004. Former board member of Wikimedia Deutschland, the German chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Now Franke is a fellow of Wikimedia Deutschland and community advocate of the German Wikipedia in a project exploring paid editing on Wikipedia.

He has a masters degree in political science and philosophy, and lives and works in Berlin.
